Jordan and Seger drove out to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for barn hunt training. Seger has had very minimal training towards this, but quickly learned to sniff out the rats hiding the hay. During our training session, Seger was able to learn the smell of the rats, climb on and off hay bales, go through tunnels, and even do a “run-through” of the event. Although she failed the instinct test, Seger did well on the run-through event. She found the rat hidden in the tube within seconds of being released off leash. We hope to continue our training and possibly even compete this year with Seger.
